Action for Development: Pallisa women councillors benchmark Mbale’s governance tools & policies.

In a visit aimed at exposing the women councillors to governance techniques in other districts as well as having them get a hands on experience on how successful councils work, Mbale district hosted Pallisa women councillors. The visit was organised by ACFODE and her partner Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, for women councillors from Pallisa district to Mbale district.

Action for Development: Pallisa-Apac women councilors get refresher training on gender budgeting and multi-party politics

Gender equality is a fundamental human right that is recognized by the Ugandan constitution. Therein the constitution, it is specifically highlighted that the rights of women to reach their full potential in social, economic and political activities is an indispensable entitlement. Furthermore, the Local Government Act sets principals, whereby 30% of local councilors must be female while every district has to elect at least one-woman representative.

ACFODE enhances the counseling skills of police officers and health workers on SGBV in Kisoro district

police officers and health workers are usually the first recipients of sexual gender based violence (SGBV) survivors. Therefore as part of the additional activities under the project "Promoting Positive Socio-cultural Practices in the rural communities of Kisoro", on 22nd February 2018 ACFODE carried out a one day refresher training in counseling techniques for police and health personnel at BAM hotel in Kisoro municipality. The training was facilitated by the district HIV/AIDS focal Mr. Mugisha Sison

ACFODE shares research study results on the implementation of the Domestic Violence Act in Teso & Acholi sub region

On a rainy morning of 28th February, 2018, stakeholders, representatives from government ministries, departments and agencies, members of parliament, development partners, the media and members of the general public, gathered at Serena hotel-Kampala to receive the research findings of a study carried out on the effective implementation of the domestic violence act in the Teso and Acholi regions. The study encompassed districts of Lamwo, Omoro, Katakwi, Kitgum and Kaberamaido.
