Improving Lives Through Tree Planting by Rainbow International in Uganda
Vi Agroforestry a Swedish development organisation which is working towards a sustainable environment offering good living condition through agroforestry, donated a 100 tree seed- lings (a combination of Agroforestry trees and fruit trees) to Chado Junior School in Luwero and these were relayed by the Year 9s of Rainbow International School as part of their Community Outreach program during their Outdoor Learning Experience. It all started with the Vi Agroforestry staff participate in a discussion session with students from Year 9 on the importance of trees in mitigating and responding to climate change.
They engage the students in a practical tree planting exercise to ensure they acquire the appropriate skills to be able to train the students of the primary school in Luwero who will benefit from this social responsibility exercise. During their Community outreach pro- gram, the year 9's visited and gave a talk and a demonstration about tree plantingto the students of Chado junior school. They later guided the children to plant the donated seedlings around their school, using the information they had acquired. The trees planted are expected to improve the lives of the people around Chado Junior School in terms of food, shelter. A big thank you for the support given by Vi Agroforestry that made our program a success.
